Having difficulties finding child bikes can be a situation that is not that easy to resolve! We would all like to be able to obtain the right bike for our child without the numerous hours needed to travel from store to store searching for the style, color, or size that is appropriate. For myself, I much prefer to order the bike online rather than spending all that time going back and forth between stores only to find that right size and style are not currently in stock! This is an extremely frustrating experience that can be avoided by noting just a few essential factors.
Child Bikes in the Right Design
In order to save yourself some frustration, I would suggest that you first determine the color and style that is appropriate for your child. If your child is younger than seven, you would be wise to select the color and style for him or her. You could even choose a color that is either their favorite, or one that you know will wear well over time. However, if your child is age seven or older, I would recommend limiting the choices to two or three styles that you feel might be suitable. In this way, you will have saved yourself much time and energy by making sure that the styles and colors are available and by limiting your child to few choices that will make the decision easier for them. They should be quite grateful for the bicycle that they have either earned or that you are buying for them!
Child Bikes in the Right Size
In regards to the size, be sure that you select a model that will last your child for many years to come. Choose an open style where the bar between the seat and the handle is low enough to allow your child to use it while small and as they continue to grow. (For child bikes with low bars, see Tricycle Bikes). Next, be careful that the pedals do not have jagged metal edging because this could be disastrous while they are just beginning to learn to ride! Finally, select a U-shaped handle bar that is relatively short, but wide, so that the handle bars can be easily reached without needing much adjustment as your child continues to develop. Selecting the color and style initially, while giving careful attention to size, will ensure that you choose child bikes online that will save you many hours of shopping horrors!
